Lower than expected rider numbers for the Summer Sports Day 2 event on Sunday at AJS, allowed for an early finish to the day, but more importantly plenty of great racing for the riders who participated.
Brayden Luksa was in top form in the C Grade Opens class holding out Michel Drean, Seth Nicholson, Cory Luksa, Casey Crisp and Troy Luksa, who was in contention for the most elegant slow motion dismount mid race- over the handlebars. In the C Grade Lites Jack Barham, Chris Wood, Callum Thomson and Dillion Marigoni lined up for their four motos with Barham racking up the perfect scorecard for the day.
In the Vets, Jason Jaeschke secured the win with the battle left between Michel Drean, Troy Luksa, Greg Wood, Dylan Sherwood and Brett Sherwood. Jeff Howell brought the big TM back out for a show and tried his freestyle mx mid race! He’ll be back, hopefully without sampling the soil next time.
Charlie Creech took out all of the A Grade pro races, even after coming together with Carson Bascombe, both dueling for the holeshot. Stuart Robertson remained consistent holding Jake Woods and Quaid Smith out of the top three. Smith took a massive stack before deciding on calling it a day. In among the mix was the B Grade class and it was great to see Hayden James dicing with the A graders, but importantly was on top from Harrison Smith, Dylan Grace and Matt Marson.
With only two juniors for the morning, Jack Court and Bevan Barnett, the competition will be more thrilling for the juniors coming up to seniors next year at our next event.
Charlie Creech wrapped up the 8 lap feature race at the end of the day, lapping back to second place in the process.
A massive thank you to the track work guys, awesome job again, the girls in the canteen and bar, all the helpers and officials, first aid, the girls in the tower, the flaggies and thank you to the riders for supporting the club.
Next event Sunday October 1st, where the 125cc/250cc Junior riders moving to seniors are invited for this race meeting.
